UPMC St. Margaret Bloomfield Garfield Family Health Center, Pittsburgh receives national recognition

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, American Cancer Society, and Association of American Cancer Institutes recognized St. Margaret Bloomfield Garfield Family Health Center with the 2019 HPV Vaccine Is Cancer Prevention Champion Award for their efforts to achieve high HPV vaccination rates in their practice.

The health center serves predominantly low income and African American patients, registering 10,000 patient visits per year. It also serves as headquarters for the school health partnership with five East End Pittsburgh schools. The center used innovative approaches involving the community that lead to an impressive 77% completion rate for both male and female patients.
